Kaweah | Girls Bike Short
We've been asked time and time again for girls sizes for all those mommy-and-me adventures. We took our most playful prints from the Kaweah line and adapted them to accommodate our littler adventurers. The Kaweah is designed with a durable 90% recycled poly/10% spandex blend to give you a breathable mountain bike short that wicks sweat while moving with your pedal stroke. A DWR finish ensures that even the muddiest puddles won’t dampen your style.
AVAILABLE IN SIZES 8Y-14Y. RUNS LARGE, SIZE DOWN!
(Don't see your size? Shoot us a message at email@example.com. In many cases, we're restocking soon!)
The Kaweah prints bring some extra detail with a fresh take on island life in our new Isla print and our retro-inspired disco dahlia print!
You might be wondering what the difference is between the Kaweah and Freel. The two shorts share a lot in common: water repellency, a great fit, phenomenal style, and durability. The main differences you’ll find are in the fabric and thus the price! The Kaweah is a polyester blend, while the Freel is nylon. If you buy shorts from any of our fellow MTB loving brands, you’ll be familiar with a polyester short. It’s the workhorse. If you're still not sure how to pick the best shorts for you, check out our new Kaweah vs Freel comparison chart, here.
Wild Rye ships via USPS (yep, we’re buying up as many stamps as possible to do our part to save the US Postal Service) - please provide your PO Box address if that is how you get your mail (talking to you mountain town people!)
We offer a 30 day return / exchange policy from ship date. Final sale items are noted in the product description - these items cannot be returned for any reason. Full details here.

I mostly have the Freel shorts but decided to try the kaweah in the disco dahlia print. I like that that print is woven into the fabric. With my thigh rub and the bike seat, I have worn some of the print on my Freel’s.
I have thick thighs and wear a chamois but liked the little more fitted look of the kaweah short. In the last generation of the Freels, I wore a size 6, now I had to go for a 8 and I also did 8 in the kaweah. I wear a 6 in the Freyah pants. The kaweah in an 8 fit well but I do have a little back gap. I don’t notice that when riding but I also wear a hip pack. I am usually a 6-8 street size.
I was looking for a summer Bermuda short and couldn’t find anything. I saw these shorts and was afraid to spend money on a bike short since I ride very infrequently and wanted something for everyday.
Anywho. I’m in love. I’m a bigger/curvy girl but these fit great. Maybe a little low on the plumber line, but that’s the story of my backside.
They work for the river and the trail and go right out for happy hour. The material sheds water so when I’m open too kayaking my legs aren’t soaked and they dry quickly when they go get wet. If they had a back pocket I’d probably never take them off!
Size down. Fabric feels good but run way bigger than size chart suggests. If between sizes go down at least one size.
Cute, comfortable, durable, I reach for these shorts every time I ride!
The quality seems really good and I love the material and the print! However, the fit is just not great. I sized up like it said to online only to find the waist was much too big and the thighs were still too snug (for reference I am 5'3, 130# with muscular legs and a small-ish waist). I could maybe make them work if the waistband was adjustable, but I am definitely not going to wear a belt mountain biking. I had a few other similar sized friends try them on and no one could make the fit work. If they weren't final sale i would be sending them back.
