*NEW! As of Spring '23 the hem of the Freel has been changed to match the Freda - eliminating the hem roll that occurred on some of our Freel shorts! This will not change the fit or length of the shorts.

Our flagship short, the Freel has been Outside Magazine’s Gear of the Year and is beloved by mountain bikers everywhere, from the Alps to the Bitterroots. Made with shrub-resistant and mud-deflecting nylon, the Freel is an enduro ready short that seamlessly takes you from the red rocks of Moab to the loamy single track of the PNW. With four-way stretch, deep pockets, and our unique collection of playful prints, the Freel is a beautifully designed short that’s still technical as hell. No compromises, it’s our favorite workhorse.

AVAILABLE IN SIZES: 0-18

Sunflower: Often referred to as the “happy flower,” we couldn’t think of anything better than a fun sunflower print to welcome longer days and warmer temps.

Koi Pond: Known to swim against the current and overcome great obstacles, koi symbolize strength, courage, patience, and success through perseverance.

Mahogany: Yes. We’ve finally done it. Wild Rye has gone solid, and honestly, we couldn’t be more excited. And where better to start than this rich red that pairs with pretty much anything.

Lotus Greyscale:  A symbol of strength, resilience and rebirth, the Lotus print is a nod to women everywhere. Who could possibly be stronger or more resilient?Wear these shorts with pride, knowing you’re the baddest b**** around.

Ginkgo Jade: It wouldn't be a Wild Rye bike short if it didn't have a botanical option. A symbol of longevity and endurance, the ginkgo leaf pattern is a nod to emerging out of a few long hard years and the ever-expansive opportunities and future spreading out before us.

Wild Thing Sea Glass: This is a new take on one of our all-time favorite patterns, Wild thing. Inspired by leopard print, this anything-but-basic pattern is brought back with a refreshing and energizing green.

Sawtooth Mocha: Inspired by one of our favorite mountain ranges in Idaho, our home state, this print captures the expanse and unbridled wild of the Mountain West.

Not all women’s fit

Bought these for my wife for Christmas. Unfortunately ran into the same problem as many outdoor clothes. Sizing down (10) is too tight in the hips, sizing up (12) is too loose on the waist. Curvy women need clothes. We were hoping a women’s specific brand would know how to navigate varying women’s body shapes. At least having a couple models for different shapes would help. Love the prints though. Very pretty!

GO to shorts!

These shorts are stretchy and light but you still feel protected with them on. I don't wear chamois and they are great with a pair of wool underwear underneath them.
