Kylie
I'm a North Lake Tahoe local turned Seattle girl, with a lifelong passion for the mountains. I grew up ski racing at Squaw Valley and recently made the leap into freeride skiing competitions. I moved to Seattle in 2022 to work as an ER nurse. I spend the winters at Crystal Mountain and touring around the beautiful, vast backcountry the PNW has to offer. I spend the summers mountain biking, backpacking, and side hustling as a white water rafting guide.
Where do you live and what’s your day job?
I live in Seattle and work as a Burn Pediatric ICU nurse. It's intense and incredibly rewarding—and definitely keeps me grounded when I'm not in the mountains.
What are 3 passions you have outside of work?
I am passionate about skiing, white water rafting/kayaking, and biking either in the mountains or as a way to explore the city.
Something not many people know or would expect about you?
I’m kind of obsessed with road biking, especially in the city. I originally bought my bike on a whim for a bike-packing trip, but now it’s my main way of commuting. It’s opened up this whole other side of urban adventure—finding little secret spots and quiet corners I’d never see otherwise. Honestly, I never thought I’d find myself on anything but a mountain bike but now I’m hooked.
Biggest “send it” moment—on the mountain or in life?
One of the most memorable was when I did my first backflip in front of a boy that I liked, like i'd done dozens before. Miraculously, I landed clean. Still don't know how I pulled that off but it gave me the confidence to really start learning tricks. The boy is gone but the backflips are here to stay haha.
Who’s someone that has inspired you to get after it in the mountains?
Hilaree Nelson. She was a true trailblazer—pushing boundaries in ski mountaineering while also being a leader, a mother, and a voice for women in the outdoors. She showed that strength and vulnerability can coexist, and that women absolutely belong at the highest levels of mountain sports. Her legacy reminds me that the mountains are for all of us, and that leading with grace and grit is just as powerful as charging hard.
What do you do when you're not skiing/riding/biking?
I'm probably fishing! I have become an amateur salmon fisherwoman since moving to the PNW to which I have to credit my partner. It has allowed and taught me more about the river and the geography of the WA than I would have ever known! Now there's always fish in the fridge!
