Skiing and storytelling are the two things that make me feel the most like myself. I am a born and raised Teton- based professional ski mountaineer and recreational climber, runner, and biker with an undeniable knack for play. I always laugh when I read stories about the benefits of play-based education because it resonates so much in my adult life too! I feel lucky enough to spend my day to day integrating lots of play and creativity as the Marketing Manager for Keely’s Camp For Girls- the first all girls ski camp in North America. Revolving my life around skiing fills my cup- although my feet beg to differ!
What do you do when you're not skiing/riding/biking?
I love to knit, forage for mushrooms and huckleberries, read fantasy books, and attempt to make recipes from my favorite Korean cookbook (this one is still a work in progress)!
What’s one piece of gear you swear by?
I would argue food is one of your biggest tools in the mountains and I will die on the croissant and baked goods hill. Bribing myself with a pan de chocolat on every adventure is a no brainer.
How do you encourage more women to step into outdoor spaces?
Empowering the next generation of girls in skiing through my role at Keely’s Camp is so special. I didn’t have many female coaches or mentors growing up in the ski industry and I love that this narrative is changing. Being resilient is important- but being supported is essential. I hope that sharing the stories of our alumni who have gone on to become ski guides, US Ski Team members, and more importantly kind, inclusive people makes our community of girls feel like they can do anything. Plus, skiing down Mt. Hood in a mob of 100+ girls is SO FUN!
What are three words your best friends would use to describe you?
My high school superlative was “most mysterious” but this was probably a result of constant ski line daydreaming haha. My friends now would probably describe me as spunky, creative, and food motivated!
Why Wild Rye?
Being an athlete for a brand whose mission is to cultivate a community of women- in and out of the mountains- checks all my boxes. I feel seen and celebrated not just for what I accomplish on skis, but for who I am beyond the sport, and that’s rare. And I’m obsessed with wearing bright colors, so that’s a major win!
