Avery

I’m Avery, a graphic designer and marketing creative living in Ketchum, Idaho, and a full-time dog mom. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me outside skiing, running, flying, or traveling. The mountains are my happy place, and I love sharing time in the mountains with friends and other women in the community.

Where do you live and what’s your day job?

I live in Ketchum, Idaho. I run my own business in graphic design and marketing.

What are three words your best friends would use to describe you?

Kind, compassionate, competitive.

What are 3 passions you have outside of work?

Skiing, running, and traveling. Oh and DOGS.

Something not many people know or would expect about you?

In my previous life (my teens and twenties), I was a US Ski Team Nordic Ski Jumper, with a personal record of 145 meters.

Biggest “send it” moment on the mountain or in life?

Moving to Ketchum and starting my own business were two huge send-it moments!

Who’s someone that has inspired you to get after it in the mountains?

Oh man, I can’t pick just one. The women I’ve met in Ketchum have all inspired me to get after it in the mountains. My friend Julie was the first to take me into the backcountry about 12 years ago, and she made learning something new feel safe and exciting. These days, I’m constantly motivated by my badass girlfriends, who push me to bootpack bigger peaks, dive into new terrain, and keep chasing new zones every winter.

What’s one piece of gear you swear by?

A good beanie and a solid shell. Non-negotiable.

What do you do when you're not skiing, riding, or biking?

I love to run. This year I ran my second ultramarathon, and I’m hooked.

How do you help build community in the outdoors?

I believe in showing up, inviting others in, and celebrating every win. I helped start a weekly women’s skin night in Ketchum, and it’s been so cool to see how many women show up to learn and encourage each other in the ski community.

How do you encourage more women to step into outdoor spaces?

By creating opportunities to connect, like the weekly skin nights, and by sharing the stoke. The outdoors should feel welcoming for everyone, and I love cheering women and girls on as they take their first steps into new outdoor adventures.

Why Wild Rye?

Because Wild Rye makes gear that actually fits and performs while also standing for community, inclusion, and empowerment. It’s technical, stylish, and built for women who want to get after it.
