A writer, photographer, surfer, and cyclist, Jen started her career as a History PhD, interviewing for tenure track jobs at places like Yale before realizing the call of the California coastline was strong enough to change careers. Now a freelance writer for publications that including Men's Journal, Bicycling, and the Adventure Journal, Jen discusses what it was like to change careers after a decade of pursuing a specific dream, how to stay sane as a freelancer, and why the importance of place can outweigh everything else.
