Stay Weird, Raise Legends: Wild Rye & The Mothership Collective

Big news, babes: we’re officially teaming up with the Mothership Collective—and this one hits pretty close to home.

The Mothership is a fast-growing community of women who are entering or living in their mom era without giving up who they are, what they love, or how they move through the world. It’s a resource for women, a soft place to land, a place to gather IRL, and a source of inspiration.

The Mothership was launched just six months ago by Tahoe-based Julie Bacon, a longtime Wild Rye fangirl who goes way back with us—she modeled in one of our early shoots and has remained a brand friend since. When Julie was pregnant with her first kid, she found herself asking the kinds of questions a lot of women quietly Google but don’t always get clear answers to. Like, no seriously… how long into pregnancy can I really ride?

She knew she didn’t want to lose herself in becoming a mom. And while that feeling is incredibly common, she struggled to find a community that felt the same—women who loved the outdoors and didn’t want motherhood to slow them down. Women who support one another to show up as they are, “stay weird,” and navigate the physical and mental shifts that come with motherhood. So she built the thing she couldn’t find.

“I just wanted a place where women didn’t have to choose between being a mom and being themselves,” Julie said. “I knew those women existed—I just couldn’t find them. So I built The Mothership Collective for all of us.”

Turns out, she wasn’t alone.

"As we watched The Mothership's feed develop on the gram, we regularly lol'd and were like yep—these are our people," said our founder and CEO, Cassie Abel. “Our internal team is made up of a bunch of feral moms who are raising kids while still raising their freak flags. Women who believe you can be a parent and a badass. Who still want to ride bikes, ski hard, sweat, swear, dance, wear glitter, and show the next generation that you don’t have to shrink yourself to be a good mom.”

We felt seen. And the feeling was mutual.

“When the time came to dream up partners for our community, Wild Rye was at the top of the list because I knew they’d support our mission, the taboo topics, the glitter, the chaos, the FUN, and the chance to lift women up.”

So here we are. Stay tuned for fun stuff to come—contests, giveaways, hangs, and real life stories that will hopefully help other women live their best, wild lives.
