7 Reasons We’re Wild for Morels (and Why You Should Be Too)
Here at Wild Rye, we don’t mind a little mud on our tires or dirt under our fingernails. So naturally, when spring hits Idaho and the trails start to thaw out, we’re not just reaching for our bikes – we’re also keeping our eyes peeled for one of nature’s greatest treasures: the morel mushroom.
In honor of our new Morchella print (inspired by these funky forest fungi), here are 7 reasons morels have a special place in our hearts – and our spring ventures.

1. Morels are Idaho royalty.
There are two things we can count on every spring in Idaho: epic singletrack and morels making their mysterious appearance. These mushrooms thrive in the wild forests, burn zones, and shady hillsides we pedal past—if you know where to look.

2. They make snack breaks 100% more interesting.
We love a good trail snack (sour peach rings, anyone??) , but stumbling on a patch of morels mid-ride? That’s next-level. One minute you’re trying to catch your breath, the next you’re foraging for dinner. Bonus points if you stash a mesh bag next to your hydration bladder.
3. They’re just as weird and wonderful as your biker girl gang.
Knobby, spongy, and totally unforgettable – morels are the funky forest friends you didn’t know you needed. Sort of like that one gal who shows up to the group ride in jorts and still somehow crushes everyone on the climb. Quirky, iconic, and impossible not to love.

4. They inspired our Morchella print.
We took the unique, honeycomb texture of morels, turned it into an abstract print and put it on pretty much everything we could get our hands on so you can wear it anywhere you’re headed this summer. Whether you’re biking, hiking, rowing rivers, or just wandering through the woods, our new Morchella Collection lets you wear your mushroom obsession with pride.

5. They prove that faster isn’t always better.
Let’s be real: you don’t find morels bombing down the mountain. You find them when you slow your roll, look around, and maybe even get off the bike. Foraging teaches us the joy of the meander – and sometimes that’s exactly what we need.
6. They're elusive – and we love a challenge.
You can’t just buy true morel magic at the store (unless you’re fancy and hit the gourmet aisle). These tiny treasures like to play hard to get. Finding one on the trail is like nature whispering, “You’ve earned this, here’s your reward for pedaling so far”.

7. They remind us that magic is real – and it grows in Idaho.
Every morel feels like a tiny miracle. You can’t plant them. You can’t force them. You just show up, be present, and hope the forest decides to share. Honestly? That feels a lot like why we ride. Because the real magic isn’t the finish line – it’s what you find when you’re out there, paying attention and enjoying the moment.
So grab your bike (or your foraging basket) and throw on something from our Morchella Collection.
Whether you’re chasing mushrooms, singletrack, or just a moment to breathe, know that you’re part of a community that celebrates the wild, the weird, and the wonderfully seasonal.
See you out there!
