Kaweah Bike Short | FINAL SALE
We don’t believe in compromise, which is why we made the Kaweah women’s mountain bike short: a do-everything, go-anywhere short that will keep you on the bike during those long summer evenings or chilly fall mornings. The Kaweah is designed with a durable 90% recycled poly/10% spandex blend to give you a breathable mountain bike short that wicks sweat while moving with your pedal stroke. A DWR finish ensures that even the muddiest puddles won’t dampen your style.
Now available in GIRLS sizing - shop Kaweah Girls now.
Note: the Kaweah is a slimmer cut with less stretch than the Freel, so when in doubt, size up! If you're looking for a short that accommodates a curvier body, we'd always recommend the Freel over the Kaweah.
The Kaweah prints bring some extra detail compared to the Freel with our popular poppy print in a subdued midnight version, a recoloration of our popular Geometry Class, a fresh take on island life in our new Isla print and finally our retro-inspired disco dahlia print!
You might be wondering what the difference is between the Kaweah and Freel. The two shorts share a lot in common: water repellency, a great fit, phenomenal style, and durability. The main differences you’ll find are in the fabric and thus the price! The Kaweah is a polyester blend, while the Freel is nylon. If you buy shorts from any of our fellow MTB loving brands, you’ll be familiar with a polyester short. It’s the workhorse. If you're still not sure how to pick the best shorts for you, check out our new Kaweah vs Freel comparison chart, here.

I purchased these shorts and the Freels. I don't see a lot of difference in the shorts.
Because these were said to run small, I sized up but shouldn't have. They're quite roomy for me in one size up.
I quite like my shorts, the fabric, print and pockets. Although maybe having a second zip pocket would be helpful. But my main comment is that the sizing information is so confusing. There are lots of reviews about people who bought their regular size and the shorts didn't fit, were in fact way to small. A few that their regular size fit. Because I purchased an item on sale, I followed the suggestion from Wild Rye to go one size from what I usually purchase. I sew, so figured I could add some elastic or something if the waist was too big. Which it was. The size 14 had a waist circumference of about 36 inches. I basically added a belt made of 2 inch elastic threaded through the belt loops but then sown down close to the front closing, so that there is no bother with a buckle. Next time I'll know to order a smaller size. Just hope that the sizing doesn't change between now and then.
These shorts are so cute and durable. They are the perfect length and I love the colors and patterns they come in. I wear them almost everyday and I will definitely be buying more!
These shorts are so awesome. Love the fun colours and patterns they come in. Also love that the material feels durable, while also a bit stretchy.
Only thing to note - I would size up in these, they fit a bit small! Will definitely be buying more colours!
These shorts are incredible. Not only are they stylish but the material is rugged enough to take some good mountain bike crashes in. Plus, the zippered pocket is clutch for my phone or keys!
